Alarm that goes off and we don't know the source?
I hope somebody can give a direction in where to look, because I have asked everybody about this and nobody has ever heard anything like it. We just moved into a new construction house a few months ago. Ever since we have noticed an alarm that goes off and last for about 1 to 2 seconds max. It is very random, sometimes we hear it once a day and sometimes we don't hear for up to a week or more. We haven't been able to figure out the exact location where it is coming from because it doesn't last long enough. Here is what I know. It is coming from a basement area that includes our furnace, and main electrical panel to the house. It could be coming from maybe our oven or underneath our laundry room. We are thinking that maybe something is wired up wrong in the house and causing this noise but we have no idea how to figure out where the alarm noise is coming from. It is very frustrating. We have asked our builder and home inspector if they had any ideas and they said no they don't. We know that it is not our smoke detectors. The alarm sound is not like a chirping sound made by a smoke detector. It really kind of sounds like a home security system alarm but we don't have a home security system installed on our house. It almost sounds like it is coming from a cavity in a wall. We are out of ideas and are wondering if something is wired up wrong somewhere in the walls. There have been no breakers that have tripped though. I don't know. Can anybody give me any suggestions please! I know that I haven't given any specific info but that is all that I am working with and I live in the house everyday!

    Thanks,
    Matt

If the builder does not know, then who can tell. Perhaps a worker left something behind the wall, Is there sheetrock that could conceal something?

Its not like air or water pressure relieving from valve?
I would talk to Electricial Contractor, If he doesn't have answer, Plumber or AC guy might help.
I don't suppose an 8 channel recorder, and 8 mikes spread through the house a possibility.
