    Bumps:Warts: HPV? Not an STD?
All right, so this may take a bit of explaining to bear with me...

I recently got tested for the whole gamut of STD's, got my HPV vaccine, and am generally a champion of healthy sex, and personal care. I know all about HPV, and I am aware of what a genital wart looks like.

A day and a half after my Doctor had called me and told me I was as clean as a whistle, I noticed a little bump on my genitals. Sure that this was nothing, and knowing that the genital tissue, like that of the mouth, is of the most resilient skin of the body, I decided I would actually 'scratched' the damn thing off. It went away for about a day, but after the healing progressed, the area actually got larger, and the color turned pinker. I stupidly did this again, and to the same result. It is hard. It doesn't look like a boil. I made this little mystery spot look like a wart, and now I an wondering if it is just that.

I can recall a time pre-sex where I had little dots and things surrounding the labia, and my mother had assured me that this was normal, and this was similar to her own biology.

Could my doctor have missed something? Or has my own viginal excavation left me with an awkward little lump full of fluid?

I want to go back to my healthcare provider, but I am worried that in his missing this, it might indicate his diagnosis might not be up to par. He is a little blasé about just about everything.

What do you think? A great dept of gratitude would go to an 'expert' answering this subject.

This sounds to me like a boil or a Staph infection. Not to be graphic or anything, but where on your groin is it located? And what did the fluid look like that came out of it when you scratched it?

Most of the time these go away on their own, as long as you don't play with it. Depending on how bad it gets, sometimes they have to be drained by a doctor, and you will be prescribed antibiotics.

Sometimes when you pop them or scratch them, the bacteria that comes out spreads and causes other bumps to form, so leaving it alone would be your best bet.

There wasn't really fluid that came out of it. I literally scratched off skin. Blood would likely be the best answer, for what came out of it. The skin was the same color, just raised and seemingly irregular-- but nothing terribly alarming until post-scratch.

If you just had an STD test and it came out clean, it is unlikely that it is an STD.

It could have been something as simple as an ingrown hair, and when you scratched it off you inflamed it. When you have any kind of bump in your groin area, it is best to not pick at it.

Also, just like anywhere else on your body, you can get acne from time to time on your groin. Just like with anything else, don't pick at it and it will usually go away on its own.
