Cat sprays, tested negative, now what?
Cat Tigger came from shelter with issues. He had been kept in a stack of carrier boxes with other kitties for an extended period. In his two years in our household he has needed many alterations. Food must always be available. He has been on a perscription urinary formula for 1 1/2 years. He has a specical Buddha Pod litter box and scoopable litter that he likes. This helps keep the urine inside the box since he aims up.
Recently he began spraying many vertical surfaces around the house. Urine test showed no crystals and no signs of diabetes. I have also begun using Feliway. Spraying it on wall corners but it seems to have no effect.
I would consider trying to adjust his diet, but he won't eat anything but the dry food. Not even tuna or chicken or milk. He does like weeds that I pull from the garden and give to him. And a small amount of catnip that he gets after I clip his nails. He is an indoor cat.
I got homeopathic drops to calm him, but he gets so upset when I try to apply that it seems to make it worse for him.
Cat psychic says he misses the past kitties no longer in his life and he "grounds" himself by spraying. He does have a kitty companion in our household and they play together regularly. Tigger also is active and likes to "hunt" little pompom yarn balls.
Any suggestions? I'm at my wit's end with him.
Thanks!

It's good that he won't eat anything else, because he needs the prescription diet basically for the rest of his life.Male cats that have urinary troubles, especially crystals can become blocked, therefore not being able to urinate. The food keeps these crystals from forming which is what your cat needs. My cats spray, both males and female.I live on a farm, and they live on my front and back porches.I had to move them outside, which they love, because the urine was destroying my house.I don't thnk you should move your cat outside, especially since you need to keep a watchful eye on his urine.(checking for blood and crystals)I'm not sure if there is an answer that you haven't already tried.I wish you luck, and if I think of something I will check back with you.:)

You say he has a kitty campanion. How long has the 2nd kitty been with him? How old is your cat with the problem(tigger)?

I have had feedback that since the perscription diet is mostly gluten that it will likely lead him more quickly to an outcome of diabetes. The recommendation was to try to supplement with home-cooked food. However, this doesn't seem to be an option for Tigger. Since nothing appeals to him other than dry food. Thank your for your response.
