    91 Honda Accord won't start
I purchased a 91 Honda Accord and the individual I bought from said he was driving down the highway and the car started to backfire. He was able to nurse it home but couldn't get it to restart. I have changed the timing belt just to insure it didn't slip but everything was normal. My CEL comes on and goes off after 2 seconds and I get A hum from the back seat. If I push the gas pedal to the floor I can get it to start and run for a few seconds. But if I release the pedal any it dies. When it does run for that few seconds it runs erratically. Any suggestions would be appriciated. I have ordered a fuel pressure gauge to see if pump is reenergizing after 2 second prime. Another note: I can't get the car to restart until I turn the key off and back on again and I still only get that few seconds of run time.

I would say you have a fuel pressure problem, it is not building enough pressure and it won't hold any pressure. I would first check the gas filter to make sure it not plugged before I would change the pump

    . Check for codes.
. Check/replace the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).
. Run the K-Test on your ECM.
. Pull the ignition switch apart and check it out.

There's a real possibility the ECM or starter switch is bad. To me, it appears the computer, through Main Relay Terminal 8, is failing to hold close the second relay inside the Main Relay. This could also be a function of the START position inside the ignition switch being bad. If either of these situations exist, the fuel pump won't stay running, since voltage from Main Relay Terminal 5 to Terminal 7 will be interrupted.
