    Fraud Under $5000
    Hi everyone,

I am in Canada, I was called down to a police station and the peace officer issued a appearance notice to attend court and get fingerprinted. It says I committed fraud under $5000. He showed me some pictures of me at the store.

    1) most important - will I get a criminal record?
    2) can I have the records destroyed if found not guilty?
    3) what kind of a fine am I looking at ?
    4) what is the range in cost for a lawyer to take care of this case?

If anyone here is a lawyer , I would like to book an appointment to see you.

p.s . This is a first time offence

    1) You will only get a criminal record AFTER you are convicted. So as of now, you do NOT have one

    2) If you are found guilty, they are suppose to destroy the records, talk to your lawyer about the proper ways to make sure they do.

    3) Fine? You could also be facing jail time.

    4) Call around to a bunch of different lawyers and ask.

I will agree and disagree with Captain, first yes, only if you are convicted or plead guilty will you have a criminal record,

If you are found not guilty, or the case is dismissed, there are 100's of records that just can't be destroyed, there will be booking records, each booking sheet has to be accounted for, and the official police record ( not public) will state found not guilty or case dismissed.

Fine,? What did you do, and as noted on faud, jail time is evve possible
