    Blonde gone brunette. Big mistake
My whole life I've been some form of blonde.. but yesterday I decided to take the plunge and go brunette. I went into the salon feeling ballsy, walked out feeling likea new woman, but a little unsure about my new color.. I decided to roll with it. I get home and my parents HATE it. I look in the mirror and realize I was lying to myself. I hate it too. Ill take my dark roots over this ANY day. Even though I asked for brown and my stylist said it would be "caramel", but it is just plain dark brown.. no if ands or buts about it.
So right now I am waiting until the second the clock hits 9am and I am calling the salon to see what they can do. I feel like if I got a recommendation from the stylist and I agreed to it, its my fault. But what she said and what I got were two pretty different things. Also, I paid $102 for allover monotone color.. I probably could've gotten this from a box.
I am a little unsure as to what to ask for now.. as I want to just be blonde again but don't want to pay any more.
Any at home remedies that you guys have done that might help? Or do you think I should try and get a bunch of highlights weaved in so that the darkness isn't so intense?

I truly don't know what to tell you. But you know the best way to decide a change in hair colour is trying a different colour wig for a few days. That way you don't make a permanent mistake. The worst thing is going from blond to dark back to blond. So go in and have them strip your hair of the colour or just live with until you get enough grown out to have a really short hair cut.

May feelings here have always been that if you go radical then it's a problem, but trying to set it right is really doing a lot of damage to your scalp and hair and you have your whole life to live if you damage it so much that you don't have a heck of a lot left. Right ?

If you want go from dark to blonde, you will need to lighten your hair with bleach and then apply a toner in order for it look natural. Anything other than that will result in red/orange shade. I recommend that you get your hair professionally done.

Hey there... I had the same problem. However, I too was born w/ light blonde hair. It took me awhile (a month or so?) to get used to the brunette, but it definitely grew on me and other people. In fact, I think I realized I looked a bit more "sophisticated". My eye color popped out more, my facial features were more detailed.

I just posted because I want to go back to being blonde, but I've been brown for over a year now.

I tried to bleach over my brunette dye last summer, and ended up w/ a catastrophe. My hair broke off, fell out in chunks, and was ORANGE. It was HORRIBLE! DO NOT BLEACH OVER IT!

Here's what I say... if your hair is in good condition, and this is the first time you've dyed (unlike me... ), go to Sally Beauty or another beauty professional store and buy a gradual color removal kit. I think there is a decent one called "hair fix" that will run you about $15. Read the directions and mix it w/ a pH balanced shampoo and a little conditioner. Work it into a lather, put plastic wrap over your head, and blowdry for fifteen minutes or so. The kit *depending on hair length* gives you enough for 3 or 4 applications. It won't restore your natural color, but it will lighten the brown over time. Do an application per week, but no more. (Trust me, living with the brunette for a month or two is way better than having to chop your hair off because you burned it out too much! You WILL get somewhat used to it! It's just a dramatic difference, so it takes time!) After you lighten most of the dye out (and conditioned your hair a lot in the mean time), go to the salon and tell them you'd like a high lift lightener application. This should get you back to blonde.

DO NOT RUSH IT, THOUGH. I promise you, the desired results are there, but processed hair needs to rest so it doesn't break. Good luck!
