    Electrical Contractor bid law cancellation
    Electrical bid was made July 3, 2007 to wire entire house (approx $7,000). I signed contract thinking it was just receiving the bid. Now I see it says I acknowledge satisfactory completion of the work. No work or appointment was made to do work. Nothing was done but bidding the job.
    Location is Seattle, WA 98136. King County.
    What needs to done or what obligation do we have.
    No money exchanged hands. No checks were written.

    They have 24 hour emergency help but believe me there is no help for us on this regard from them.

    Just for peace of mind on this Fourth of July please help us.

    Signing something without reading the entire document?

    Where was the document signed?

    I believe that if it was in your home, in most states, you have three business days to cancel it without any trouble, may be verbally written notice is better.

    Issue a letter, certified and return receipt, stating that you will not be hiring them, warn them of trespassing onto your property, you have no intention of paying for any services, I am sure they will just walk away.

    The worst they could do is sue for breach of contract, any materials they have procured should be able to be returned for credit.

    Get a letter out quickly, fax and/or email ASAP along with the certified following up. Show due diligence attempting to communicate officially asap, keep copies of all documents and logs, in the event the do attempt to sue.


    I have potential clients, and repeat customers back out of contracts, I don't get excited over it, if they don't want the work done, I don't want to expend costs and not get paid.

    You need to give them written notice with notification of receipt that you are not accepting their bid, unless you want them to do the job.

    You will also call them first thing on the next working day, telling them, you thank them for the bid but have decided not to go with them at this time. But mail the letter also mentioning the phone call also.
