We have a septic field at our vacation home and every time we stay there (which is weekends only) the 2nd. Or 3rd. Day we get a smell in our bathroom for about a half hour or so. We have tried chickern fat and skins as well as septobac but the smell always comes

First off stop putting grease in your septic. That makes it worse. If your tank has not been pumped in more than 5 years have it done now and ask to have your field inspected at the same time. A failed septic usually smells bad outside not inside only. I suspect your main problem is a failed wax seal under your toilet. Replace the seal or have someone replace it for you.

I'm sorry I didn't enter all the information in my question. We have a summer home that has a septic field. The house is 6 years old and from the 1st year we have a septic smell that comes when we first go out there. The 2nd day we arrive the smell starts and stays for a short time ( 1/2 to 1 hour)1 t. Once it leaves there is no more smell whether we're there the weekend or two weeks until the next time we go there.

It sounds like the traps in the sinks, tubs and showers are drying out from evaporation, thus allowing the gases built up in the septic tank to exit through the dried out traps.

Putting plugs in the drains before you leave after each trip and then priming each trap by running water into the fixture upon your return will likely reduce the smell in the future.

Growler is certainly correct about evaporated traps causing a smell. However, if you go to your places every two weeks I seriously doubt that you'd get that much evaporation. Try his idea by all means but if the smell continues check the wax seal get the tank pumped since its been 6 years. The joys of a second home.
