Most people who are going to want to really convey a message of any importance to another person, aren't going to be using symbols or abbreviations in the writing. The usage of these sorts of things are really just for fun.

If you are going to try to convey a message to someone so that they truly understand the things about which you are trying to communicate, it is best to just use appropriate grammar and spelling without any symbols or abbreviations.
