I’m a newbie.
Well, my name is Karen and I stay in London. I have a little brother and the latter is an asthma patient….he has respiration problems. Since 2 years he is suffering from this ailment….I’m really worried about him. I read an article about a certain medicine called bricanyl, it says that it helps to alleviate the respiratory problems. I want to try this medicine but I’m worried if it will deteriorate things. I thought about asking the doctor but I shed this idea because the doctor will think that I do have confidence in him. The doctor has really helped and I do want to hurt him. Can anyone give me some information about this medicine?

I have had asthma since I was 3 years old. It was very severe.

Questions: Is the asthma triggered by allergies, has your brother gone for allergy tests?

What kind of medicine is your brother on? Asthma has been becoming more common of an ailment and there are so many different medications out there, but if he has medicine that is working now? Trying other things might just make it worse. Or better.

Your brother needs to ask the doctor himself and you need to realise that no one medicine cures this ailment but just helps to relieve the symtpoms.

Asking a dcotor about a certain medicine does not mean you do not trust your doctor. Asking about Bricanyl is one of your brother's rights or your family's rights. You want what is best for your brother and your brother wants to be well. Patients are to be more informed than they used to be. Doctors cannot know everything, even though we sometimes put them in that position. It could be that your brother's doctor has not considered Bricanyl and it could be that he has and the medication is not a good match for your brother.

More and more medical professionals expect their patients to be more involved in their own health care. You are not insulting your brother's doctor by asking questions. You are advicating for your brother's health, which, to me, is far more important.
