    Oil Pressure Gauage
I have a 2002 Ford Ranger that Oil Pressure Gauage flickers. It appears that the truck is losing oil pressure according to the gauage, but it is not. I've have had the oil pressure checked by the Ford dealer twice and the oil pressure is fine. Mechanical the truck runs great.

The Ford dealer replace a $11 fuse the first time I was in but that did not resolve the problem with the oil pressure going up or down. The next time I had the truck in they couldn't find a problem.

I had both 5W20 (reccomended) and 5W30 oil the truck so that isn't the issue either.

    Anybody run into this issue?

If you oil pressure drops you should hear engine noise, first valve lifter clatter and then bearing knocks. Try pulling the gage cluster and cleaning the contacts. It is ususlly easier to pull the gage cluster, than to figure out how to yourself. Can't help with that.

    Connection
It would seem that the gauge is the problem. But I would imagine that it is only a loose connection on the back of the gauge cluster or on the pressure sensor itself. I am unfamiliar with your particular model of truck so I don’t know the location of the sensor, sorry

Replace gauage it seems the gauage is not holding pressure to give a correct reading. If your not hearing a loud tapping or reduced power I wouldn't worrie.
