Connecting a dishwasher without a sink
Can I connect a dishwasher directly to a hot water supply and drain without a sink? The dishwasher is not close to the sink.

You may connect the dishwasher to a drain only if you first run a air-gap or a high loop on the hose and then trap and vent the drain. Please explain your set up in more detail. Regards, Tom

We have moved the sink in our kitchen so it is a fair distance from the dishwasher. The dishwasher is staying in its original position next to the old water supply lines and drain. Rather than try to run long lines to connect to the new sink location, we would rather see if we can connect directly to the existing water line and drain. The line is vented through the roof and has a P-trap on it.

I am finishing a basement bathroom for which I have a rough-in, and will have to break into the concrete to move the tub drain a few inches because it was misplaced originally (Thanks for confirming that on my earlier post, speedball1). Since I will have to break into the concrete anyway, I was...
