What could this be after a miscarriage be advised this may be graphic
Okay so I had a miscarriage 3 days ago, and I’m done bleeding already. I went to the bathroom 3 times in a row and nothing no blood. Here comes the good part there was a discharge the color of yellow bright yellow. It was slimy and smelled so horrible I just couldn’t stand it, does anyone knows what this could be?

As well on the day of my miscarriage I had a black and gray discharge the size of a golf ball, with a glassy look to it. The same discharge came again today, this time it looked a bit like a brain ( if that makes any sense) again does anyone know what this is? It’s kind of scaring me. I can’t see my doctor till next week, maybe I should have gone in for the D&C.

Yes, you should have gone in for the D&C. That would have been the healthier safer option.

Okay, You need to go to emergency right away, or go to your doctor right away. There was material left over inside and that is why another ultrasound is needed to make sure that all the material is coming out. If it remains inside it can cause series infections. You have an infection that needs immediate attention. Not trying to freak you out but you need to get this taken care of right away.

No, D @ C is not always the best solution. Most doctors that I know would rather let nature takes it course and after a certain amount of time have an ultrasound done to make sure all the material is out. If after a given time not all the material is out on its own, then they will advise to do a D AND C.

Every case and situation is different but my wife bled for 3 weeks after a miscarried and all the material left and had no infections.

You in your case sounds like material is sitting inside and not making its way out. So please go see the emerg, and take care of the infection and get an ultrasound done. You might have to have a d and c since your not bleeding and not losing the material on its own.

I had a D&C after a miscarriage. I do feel they are safe. You should not wait to see your doctor - hopefully you have already gone to the ER. It is possible to have an infection but most likely you are sloughing off the fetus. Take care.

Okay so I made my way to the ER (it's just down the street from my house) I walked in and ER nurse asked what was wrong. I told her and her respond was "well what do you expect after a miscarriage you will always have a discharge." I couldn't believe how rude she was, she said we are really backed up with accidents and other patients, she said if you want to take a seat and wait for a few hours you can. She as well said that I am young and I have nothing to worry about this is normal. What is normal about a black and gray and yellow discharge? As I was walking out she walked after me and asked whether I had an ultrasound done after the "miscarriage" as she put it. I asked her why and she said well sometimes doctors make a mistake this may not have been a miscarriage to begin with. I walked out in tears and now I don't know what to do I can't seem to stop crying and feeling like I did something wrong again.

Oh my goodness. You were treated quite poorly. You have enough worries and did not need her attitude. Granted, a car accident or heart attack would take precedence over your case but still, a little tact and diplomacy goes a long way.

You did nothing wrong in going to the ER. You wanted an answer and that would be the right place to go. If I were you, I would file a complaint.

Just remember, you did nothing wrong here. Nothing.

Ok firstly don't let one horrible nurse upset you. After a miscarriage you can have a lot of bleeding and discharge, of various colours and smells, its horrible but it is everything coming out. Depending on how far along you were, you would most likely not have seen a brain or anything like that. You would need to be pretty far along to see any discernable body parts. 3 days is not really long enough to have finished bleeding, but again depends how far along you were. I would suggest going to see your own dr as soon as you can, you probably do need a d and c, but not every woman does, an ultrasound will tell you. If there is still a lot of tissue left a dr will arrange a d and c, but they are pretty invasive if not entirely necessary, and honestly not a very nice experience to go through if you don't have to. But your dr can advise best. Good luck.

Of course doctors can make mistakes. I lost my first daughter at 22 weeks pregnant, I went into premature labour and she died during delivery. However the doctors told us she was a boy, our son, whom we named Ben. It was only 2 and a half years later that we found out the truth when I got a copy of the post mortem report. The doctors and midwives thought she was a boy at birth as her genitals were swollen, and despite finding out she was a girl at the post mortem less than a week later, they never told us. They let us cremate and have a funeral for our son, who was our daughter! Yes doctors can make mistakes, but all you can do is harass them if you are not happy. Have you taken a pregnancy test? Even after a miscarriage you may well still be getting a positive result for a week or two. If you have had a pos result it definitely sounds like a miscarriage.

There is nothing you can do for yourself until you see the doctor. Rest up and take plenty of fluids, whatever had to be passed is probably passed and you will find that you will have only a heavy discharge soon. Just take it easy and you will be fine.
