Likely the vet has prescribed what works most often or even what frequently is a cost effective solution. Nothing works 100% of the time. At least call the vet. He may have another arrow in his quiver.

I love large dogs. Sadly those of us that do, pay for it with their shorter life spans. My Lab Aster was 13 last fall. She is still in fairly good condition, but has slowed down. Last Sunday she wouldn't retrieve sticks beyond where she could wade. I treasure the time I have left with her. Her time will come, and perhaps your Rott's time is coming.
