    Proxy Marriages
    Have anyone done a marriage by proxy?

    Does anyone know how many have been done?

    I personally have not done this but I know proxy marriages are legal in the state of Montana. In fact, it is good business. There was an article in the local paper less than a month ago about proxy marriages. The people who "stand in" for the couple get $50.00 for each wedding. The marriage is legal and everyone is happy.

    However, a proxy marriage that is unconsumated, is not considered a legal marriage when it comes to immigration.
