My girlfriend and I had sex nine days ago and the condom broke. Six days after that she had cramps as if she were going to start her period. She was supposed to start 8 days after we had sex, but it's been nine days and she still hasn't had it. She has had cramps for four days now. Do these cramps that she is pregnant or do they show that she is about to start her period? How can I be sure?

Really it can go either way. Have her take a hpt *home pregnancy test* and see what turns up. If it comes out negative wait a week and test again. If it is then still negative have her make a dr appointment and have a blood test done. The only thing you can do now is wait and see.

Like Myth said, it could be either way at this point. Being one day late, really isn't considered late because its not uncommon for women to miss a cycle, or be late on occasion. Its usually suggested that you wait until your period is one week late, then take a test. If its negative, to wait one more week.If its still negative but she misses her next period, its time to see a doctor. Also, instead of taking hpts, you can go get a qualatative blood test from your local hospital. They are more accurate then hpts(but can still-rarely- be wrong) , and not too much more expensive. She can take a test right now,since she IS late, BUT I would suggest waiting until she is a week late, as that lessens the likely hood of it being a waste of money.
