    Air Conditioner Stopped working
Last used the air conditioner was last summer, with the heat coming early this year we tried it and it didn't work. This is what I know so far:

    1) I switched out the thermostats (we have two) and it made no change
    2) checked the exterior fuses and they are good
    3) Inside Fan works
    4) When I take the exterior panel off I can push in the "switch" and the air conditioner works.

Why would this "switch" fail and the outside fan/blades not work?

    Thanks for any help!

That switch, The contactor, Needs 24 volts present to pull in. You will need to check that. Disconnect the power to unit and check from side to side of the coil for continuity. If that checks OK then put power on and turn thermost to call for cool and se that you have 24 volts present at same place as checked for continuity. Post back with results

Shut the power off at breaker box or disconnet box at unit. There is 240volt of elec there. Work carefully. Also turn stat off as well
