2003 Honda Accord-can not get car out of park
I tried to engage the transmission and can not get the car out of park.

The shifter appears to be locked. The steering wheel is not locked and the car can be started.

    Any suggestions?

My 2002 Honda Accord just starting doing the same thing yesterday. I have no idea what is wrong. Have you gotten any help with yours? If so what did you find out that could help me? Thanks.

Try replacing the brake light switch under the dash by the brake pedal. It not only actuates the brake lights but also releases the accidental shift lock on the shifter. It's a $15 fix if you do it yourself and only takes 15 minute, probably less. Dealers and most shops know about this issue and shouldn't charge much in labor to fix it.
