    1099 claim information!
I am 20 years old and am working over the summer while college is out for my friends father. He said it would be under the table. He is a civil engineer and I work wit him Monday through Friday between 35 and 40 hours per week. I am currently receiving a check from him weekly for the amount he owes me with NO taxes taken out. I know he is going to 1099 me at the end of the summer because I spoke with some one whom use to work for him.
My question is... what can I do to not have to pay out at the end of the summer IF he won't put me on the books as w-2(he won't because he doesn't want to have to carry insurance and have me liable under him, because as 1099 according to the state I am a sub-contractor and carry my own). He is a snake and I either want to be on the books as w-2(as I should be) or (if he is paying me cash have it in CASH).
2nd question(since I don't really have one yet) is under 1099 laws, if I make less than 9,000 dollars I don't get taxed? IS that correct or not?

I am going to my tax attorney on Wednesday this week to get this sorted out before I confront my employer, but if anyone can help please respond.
    Thank You!

Ok, he can't just decide that you are a 1099 employee, you are either a 1099 by your job duties and your job descriptions.
So you are either one or you are not.
If you are a 1099 employee you merely hold back part of your check each week just like it was bieng held out, you put it in a savings account and you have your money to pay your taxes.
