Hampton Bay Remote Ceiling fan
I just installed a Hampton Bay Remote Ceiling fan.
It has no pull chains, just remote. I set the dip switches
To match(1010) on both, put new duracell battery in remote.
The remote hardly works, If I hold the remote right near where I know
The receiver is, it sometmes works. I assume any answer will
Include removing the fan(which was a pain to get in with close to ceiling mount).
When I get it to work the fan seems OK.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated, I really don't want to have to return it.
Thanks,
George

Hello,
Yes the light on the remote is on, even when it does not work the fan.
I tried 2 different batteries(both from different packages).
I guess I'll have to take it down, double check the dip switches,
Maybe fool with the antenna wire, and cross my fingers...
Thanks for the reply.

Basically, yes. It could be a bad receiver but usually when that happens, it doesn't work at all.

If remote works nearby, code probably set correctly. Antenna is outside of canopy?

You know, it is possible (but unlikely) that the frequency is similar not exactly the same.
Try a different frequency.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the tips. I'll give them a try.
No, the antenna is not outside the canopy,
With this close to ceiling mount, it really doesn't
Look possible to do that without cutting the antenna.
When I take it apart, I'll see how it works open,
Then try to change the frequency, and I'll try to expose
The antenna when I put it back up.
Unfortunately, with my daughters birthday and fathers day
This weekend(and in-laws staying over), I can't get to it until
Monday or Tuesday.
Thanks again for the tips.

Don't cut antenna, It is cut to frequency.

Thanks for all the replies. I got the remote working, except the dimmer function
Doesn't quite work. The light goes from dim to bright with no way of stopping it
In between. I'll live with that before I take the fan down again..
Anyway, it was a clear case of rookie - itous. The antenna was tangled up in
All the extra wire included that I just jammed into the canopy instead of trimming.
I untangled it and put it up into the ceiling as per the troubleshooting guide that
Came with the fan. It seems to work OK.
Thanks again,
George

There's a way to stop the dimmer, I don't know what it is specific to your remote, but you should be able to figure it out. Maybe you hold down the button.

Hi!
We have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan in our bedroom that is run strictly by remote (no pull chains). It usually works fine and we haven't had too many problems, but occasionally we can get it to turn on, but not off. All of a sudden it (the remote? The receiver?) will stop working when the...

The ceiling fan remote has lost part of its function. The button which turns the light off/on and dims the lights will only dim the lights. It will not turn the lights off and on. All other functions work such as fan speed, fan off/on and reverse. Any thoughts
