    Illinois residential wiring color codes
I am attempting to install a Hunter ceiling fan and light. The color of the wire in the fan are black, black-and-white, green, and white. For a single switch operation the instructions are to connect the black and black-and-white wires from the fan with the black wire from the ceiling; then the white wire from the fan with the white wire from the ceiling and finally the green wire from the fan with the green wire from the ceiling. Problem is that the colors of the wire insulation in the ceiling is black, red (orangeish), and yellow. Given those choices what are the proper connection matches?

Black goes to black that is easy, but which wire (yellow or red) does the green ground connect to? And which does the white wire from the fan connect to?

    Just a guess:

    Black to black
    Striped to red
    White to yellow
Green to the metal outlet box.
