Request information on Priestley & Moore silversmiths
I bought some silver plate cutlery in the South of England a few years ago and would like to find some more. An antique dealer looked at one of the forks and immediately recognized it to be a Priestley & Moore piece ; I do not seem to be able to get any information about these silversmiths on the web (I live in France) ; are they well-known ? Is there a not-too-expensive book I could buy ? Do they still "exist" ? Where could I be sure of finding their cutlery (new or second hand).

    Many thanks for any help

I did a search too, and came up empty. Which means probably they are no longer making silver cutlery. The best you can do is go on line to Amazon.com and see if they have a book on silver service ware. Is there a hallmark on the very back of one of the pieces, should be located, say on the spoon, just before the bowl of the spoon on the bottom. This is probably how the antique dealer recognized the maker. In England, they all had their own trademark imbedded in the silver.

Quite right : Priestley & Moore hallmark clearly visible - if you have good eyesight.
Shall contact my father in England and ask him to research a good book.
    Thanks a lot

I am also looking for information on a set of six pearl handle steak knives made by Priestley & Moore Ltd. "Valiant" it also says Firth stainless handcrafted. These were a wedding gift from my husband's Aunt who lived in England. I have had them since 1973 and still in their box with with the guarantee from Priestley & Moore Ltd. I have never used them and would also like to know sometrhing about them.

    Many thanks for any help
