A Ring Tone That Adults Cannot Hear (with MP3)
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/12/te...gy/12ring.html
The mp3 file link is on that web page. Sadly I cannot hear it, probably due to attending way too rock concerts as a youngster.
Can you guys hear it?

I couldn't hear it. When I get home I'll have the kids listen to it and see if any of them can hear it.
If this turns out to be true, I will be amazed.

OMG, I can't wait to get home and try it.
I'll see who hears it louder, Rae (12) or Johnny (4).

I heard it and DAMN that hurt! My eyesight isn't fantastic though so it's meant that my hearing is pretty good. Plus the fact that 23 isn't that old.

I could hear it, but only if I turned my head to the side..
It's cool, but can this pitch really be loud enough for someone to notice when they are busy doing other things?

My 14 year old son could hear it at any volume. I cranked up my speakers to max (that would normally blow you out the door) and I could hear it...

We're having fun with it at the office. Apparently age is only one factor that will determine if you can hear it or not. Your lifestyle with regards to sound will affect it e.g. loud concerts, F1 races (been there, loudest event I've ever been too), etc.
I wonder if this can be a wake up call to the iPOD generation would are cranking up the tunes in their earbuds?

Rick, Ben, is there any way to add an mp3 as an attachment to the original message? I saved the file from the NYT site.

I have been to my share of rock concerts, Ozzie, Def Lepard, Van Halen and the like. But I can hear it. To me it sounds like the high pitched squealing that a television makes when you first turn it on.

Demo version of what?! Whatever MP3 player you were using must have expired. Instead of left clicking the link to hear the sound, right click it. Choose "Save As". Save it to your desktop. Then go to yuour desktop, right click on the file, choose "Open With..." and select Windows Media Player.

I really don't get what the big deal is here. Every cellphone has a silent mode that causes it to vibrate rather then sound a tone. How different is that from a tone that some people can't hear?

Removing red tone

I had been using a semi permanent hair color by L'Oreal to tone down too light highlights and brassy colored roots in my dark ash blonde hair. I used a medium ash blonde to do this. The last time I did this, it didn't really get rid of the red looking color at the roots.
So I used some L'Oreal...
