 I recently moved to nj oct. 06. I continue to work in nyc as a teacher my husband a paramedic in brooklyn. We also own our prior home a 3 fam building in brooklyn, ny. Should we fill out taxes in nj and if we don't does that affect our property tax break(nj) or property tax Rebate(nj)?

Yes, you fill out NJ tax forms as a part-year resident (Oct - Dec), and NY as a part year resident (Jan - Sep) and non-resident (Oct - Dec). Complete the NY IT-203 non-resident and part-year resident return first. Then do the NJ-1040, and you'll see that you take a credit for taxes paid to NY, so that you don't double pay.
