    They didn't bargain for that.

    Hello again, Steve:

No, they didn't. It's ugly out there, make no mistake about it. But, your wide eyed bewilderment about why people could DO such a dastardly thing to poor innocent Bristol Palin, rings hollow. Your outrage ignores the hatred being fomented by Sarah Palin supporters like Glenn Beck.

    a) I didn't post the story and it was about a single "threatening letter," not multiple "death" threats.

    b) There is no "wide eyed bewilderment" involved and Glenn Beck isn't issuing death threats as far as I know.

    c) There is no partisanship on my part. I don't care who it is, threats on your life shouldn't be the cost of fame.

*nods head* Uh huh. Sarah didn't have a clue her daughter might have a huge target on her back.

This was reported back in March. I am sure there have been other less public threats since she first showed up on the general public's radar Left wing extremist issues death threats against Sarah Palin, Tea Party members and Eric Cantor on Twitter : Fire Andrea Mitchell!

Steve, I agree "threats on your life shouldn't be the cost of fame." However, there just is no getting around the fact that they are and Mrs. Palin has been well aware of it for quite a while.

The Palins in the 1st episode of their show conceded that they had a target on their back and were willing to take it.

It is one thing for her to place herself in jeopardy and entirely another for her to place her daughter in that situation. There has never been any doubt in my mind that Bristol was encouraged by her mother to join DWTS. If Mom was against it, the daughter would not have joined the cast. Mrs. Palin's attendance front and center is enough of a confirmation for me. This has been and will continue to be all about Mom and her political ambitions.

Tom, you may think of her as a modern day Will Rogers but I don't think she is as politically astute or as quick witted as that man was. She is quick and can be charming at times, but In my opinion she can't hold a candle to Will Rogers.

I believe this entire media storm she has created won't give her the overwhelming public approval she believes it will. I guess time will tell. ;)

    Hello again:

Couple things. I'm unbelievably impressed with the way Sarah Palin has promoted her brand, is getting rich, and is setting herself up to be elected president. That's pretty good for a mom from Wassila. Liberal's ALWAYS root for the underdog.

I just watched Bristol Palin dance. I was very impressed. No, she's not the best dancer, but she IS a trooper. She's a typical underdog, so of course, I love her.

JAL only Mark Twain lights a candle to Willomania when it comes to genuine Americana .But tell me who else comes close in the 21st century .

I envision Rogers in the 21st century tweeting the quotes he is famous for... saying what people are thinking. Like I mentioned earlier ,her contribution to the national lexicon has been impressive in her short time on the stage.

Tom, I see your point. But the century is still young! LOL!

Excon, I mentioned in an earlier post that I think she is a shrewd business woman when you called her dumb. You are evidence that her plan is working. In addition to the things you mentioned, people are falling in love with her charming personality, along with her poor lamb of a daughter who has been treated so shabbily by the media and others. The Bible belt and middle America are now closer to forgiving Bristol for having a child out of wedlock since Sarah is part of the family values team they always back. Her "Alaska" show will help to cement America's love for Sarah Palin and her family. But, I don't believe it will be enough for her to win the primary or the Presidency in 2012. AND, I "betcha" you will be very glad for that.

Today's episode of The View featured all three winning couples doing very lively dances. Bristol looked much more relaxed and did a good job.

I wonder if all 57 States will stand by our North Korean allies ?

It's that slip of the tongue thingy that is ignored by partisans when their person does it. The difference of course is that when a Democrat does it ;it isn't picked up by major news outlets .
Sarah Palin North Korea Gaffe on Glenn Beck Show - ABC News

Of course if Jimmy Carter was President then the NORKS would be our allies and South Korea the enemy.

Her comments about the current administration's timid response to the NORK provocations is right on.

(edit) by the way... the current POTUS's adm conducted peace negotiations and paid a fortune to a presumed Taliban who turned out to be an imposter. So who is scarier behind the wheel ?

    Hi Tom,

A question on context. I was wondering what Palin's poor geographical knowledge has to do with Carter's 'support' for North Korea?

    Regards

You mean her slip of the tongue? Not much except Carter is going all over the country shilling for the Kim regime ,as he does most despots in the world.

He ,for some oddity, is considered a voice of reason ;and he has the credentials because the American electorate foolishly chose him, in a moment of insanity, to become President.

I'd say his dangerous appeasing positions are far more harmful to the country than a momentary gaffe. Yet the same people who would mock Palin for this moment would also adopt Carter's foreign policies ,and in fact, have thrust him back onto the world stage often in the last 30 years as a representative of the country.

The article is a poor one.

It denounces Carter because of his circumstances. Because he is "a Korean Communist Dupe" We cannot believe anything he says.

I don't see the point in accusing Carter "asserting" and "reasserting" (presumably, Carter lacks proof) and then committing exactly the same fallacy by claiming that historically Carter fits into the mold of people who have argued for the good intention of Marxist tyrannies.

The New Republic is not a righty publication ;and for the record yes I did read the Compost op-ed... not that that is relevant... I don't need to read his drivel to know that he blames the U.S.

The facts are that the NORKS have moved the red line for over 15 years regarding proliferation and aggressive provocations . People like Carter and especially Carter have argued a straight line appeasement policy ;so the NORKs read the reaction as weakness ,and move the red line further. It is no mistake that this attack occurred a week after they revealed their latest proliferation violation.. This also comes in the wake of Kim elevating his son to the rank of General in anticipation of the coming succession to power. We now know that the Kims visited the base where the attack came from last week so the timing is not a response to some ROK action as they claim ,but outright aggression .

Here is Palin's Facebook Thanksgiving Greeting using Obama's many gaffes .
My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI's 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel's. And let's face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don't know what the term is in Austrian for that…
A Thanksgiving Message to All 57 States | Facebook
She links to the Youtube videos of each for reference. And of course it did make it on Youtube .
But the difference of course is the media didn't consider them newsworthy . Nor were they used as illustrations of his fitness for office.
