I'm drawing today Stringer, and it's not going well. I need the right paper and I need more artist chalk, colored artist chalk. Going to head over to Michaels later, get some supplies. I've given up on the water color idea, I haven't ever worked with water color, now's not the time to experiment, stick with what I know. ;)

How are you today Stringer? I hope all is going well. :)

Really busy Alty, preparing for 4 training meetings over the next two weeks.

I have not done any painting for years, but I have oils and an easel in the basement that are gathering cobwebs. But I know how peaceful it was for me when I did use them.

I'm the same way Stringer. I haven't actually painted since my dad died. It was something we did together, he was a very talented painter. I usually paint in oils, and I got an easel and all new paints for Christmas, I have yet to use them. The kids are interested, and they've been begging me to paint something, I just have to find happiness in it again, not saddness because my dad isn't beside me.

Here's one of the first pictures I every painted, it's not great, but hubby loves it so it's hanging in our bedroom. Unfortunately I couldn't get a great picture, the spray that I put on to protect the picture makes in shiny when you take a picture. I hope you get the basic image. :)

I've gotten allot better since that painting, but it was fun to do, and interesting to look at now, because I can see all the flaws. :)

That is beautiful Alty! I don't see any flaws in it at all. I think you are being too hard on yourself girl! I only WISH I could have talent like that! Great job Alty... seriously! I'm not just saying that because we are friends! :D No wonder Wiggy wants it hung in your bedroom!

EDIT: I wonder if these are the 'pretend friends' that you know who... are talking about?!

Actually that is great, your first time?

By the way, I have a snapshot that I wanted to post of my family. Rea tried to help me (bless her) until she got frustrated with me, and I can't blame her. Possibly sometime this evening you could help me post it? I can't seem to get it right and it always wants me to "reduce", "reduce." I have an HP Officejet Pro L7580 Scanner and Fax...

If you will I would appreciate it, but I can't right now. The phone is ringing again for the 30th time...

Thanks Alty... If you can't or really don't want to do it, really no problems...

Sure I'll help you. We can sit together and I'll walk you through it step by step. We just have to find each other online and not busy at the same time. ;)

Starby, thanks for the kudos. :) I like the picture, but like I said, it was my first and you learn as you go, so I see the flaws.

Here's one of my dads pictures. It's a famous doorway in the town that I was born in. Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Once again there's a glare because of the spray that protects the painting.

He chose those colors because they matched the new curtains my mother had made. He took a swatch of material along to our "painting class" so that he could match them perfectly. That picture is now hanging in my living room, along with a few others of his and mine. :) I don't have allot of wall space left, most are covered with paintings of mine and my dads. :) Memories.

It's so nice that you have your Dad's, and your memories everywhere Alty! He was very talented obviously! That is such a beautiful painting, and he obviously put a lot of time and thought into it!

Thanks Stringer. I'm so glad to have my dad's paintings, they mean allot to me, especially because I was there when he painted them, right beside him.

Okay, now I'm getting weepy. Starby started it though on another thread.:)

I don't know if I'm comfortable enough to post there, I've seen the pictures that the artists on this site post, mine don't begin to compare. I do it for me and my family, that's enough for me. :)

Gulp, do I have to admit that I'm afraid of rejection when it comes to my art? It's just a hobby, one of many, something I do for me. It was easy to share it with all of you, you're my friends, others, well, gulp, not so sure.

Thanks for the votes of confidence, I'll think about. :)
