That was so cute Stringy! It reminded me of this one. This guy has got to be one of the most talented ventriloquists I've ever seen, and this video is also so cute. Enjoy Momma. Hope you get a kick out of it. It's one of my fave songs too! ;)

So much change these days. Don't let it weigh on you! We just live in an ever changing world... not like our parents who were with one company and retired from that company. It's the weekend. Do you and Marta have any special plans?? We just got in from NH and I need to work on a drawing but I will be popping in on breaks.

    Get the drawing done...

I think that maybe we will go see the new James Bond movie tomorrow, however I hear that it isn't as good as the last one; Casino Royal. This one only got two stars... we'll see...

One thing that I brought home from the meetings is a pounding headache in the back of my head and neck, so I think that I will try to lay down on the couch for a while... later.

    Hi all!

Oma's funeral was today, what a masquerade. They decided that they didn't want me to read the eulogy, the pastor wrote and read one instead. He went to my Aunts house to ask questions about my Oma for the eulogy. Well, my Aunt is very self absorbed, so most of the things she talked about where about her life, not Oma's. It was so bad that even thought the pastor stated twice that my Oma was an only child, he kept referring to her 5 sons as her brothers.

At the end of it my other Aunt came up to me and said "well now we've had Auntie's funeral, I wonder when we'll have Oma's".

I showed her the eulogy I wrote, and she cried. "Oh Alty, I wish that you would have been allowed to read this, it would have been much more appropriate".

My Uncle from out of town, my Oma's second youngest son asked me if I was going to Oma's house afterwards for coffee and cake (even though we had a luncheon after the funeral). I didn't know about it. He told me that everyone was invited. Not me. I decided not to go.

I'm glad it's over, and I'm trying not to be upset about the whole thing.

Oh, one thing good came of it. Hubby's sister (who we haven't been on speaking terms with for 1 1/2 years) came to the funeral to offer her support. This is the first time that she's reached out. We've tried many times to no avail. Maybe this relationship can be mended after all. I hope so.

What a day, I'm so glad it's done.

Bless your heart Alty! That was a horrible experience but I am so glad your aunt got to read the eulogy you wrote. I am sure she will pass the word. I am just so sorry as I know you put your heart into every word.

Good things do come out of bad sometimes and hopefully, there will be a healing with your husband and his sister and all within the family.

Funerals are so stressful anyway. You did not need this added to it. Think of all the people, world wide that has had the privilege to read the eulogy you wrote. What an amazing thing if you think about it. Your Oma would be so proud of you. You can end your day today feeling loved by all of us and by your Oma, as well as others in your family of course, but knowing you put forth the effort to honor her... how precious that was of you. Thankfully, we only answer for what we do and not what others do and you did your best! I am very proud of you. Love and Hugs!!

I'm so sorry the funeral didn't turn out the way it was meant to Alty. Your Oma would be proud of you for what you tried to do though. I'm sure she understands the circumstances of the whole thing. I will call you later if you aren't too worn out. I have to run out for awhile, so I'm not sure what time. If you're tired, don't worry, we will talk soon.

Rebby, I just received your email about your sis-in-law. You did tell me about that when we last spoke, but I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. I will repley to your email, or I will call you also. I don't want to bother anyone when it is just such a hard time. You know you can ALWAYS call me at any time also right?

As I said, I need to run out for awhile, but I will be back later. I'm sorry both of you are going through all of this right now. I think of you both every single day.

I'll talk to both of you soon. :)

Rebbie and Starby, thank you so much. I hope she knows that I loved her, nix that, I know she knows. :)

Rebbie, I hope that you're okay. You know that we're all here for you if you need to talk. Anytime my dear, anytime. :)

I would like to share a poem with all of you, it's the one thing the pastor shared with us that I actually really appreciated. I've heard it before, and it's very fitting. I hope you all enjoy it, and live it. :)

    The Dash Poem

    by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end

He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.

    For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
    That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
    And always try to understand
    The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
    And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
    Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
    Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

Presented by Simple Truths - Popup

Boy, with all the trails and situations going on now with a lot of my friends here, and my family, I find this short slide so uplifting. Yes it is simple and probably "old" information but it is still true now and will always be. So, this is my little gift to you today, be well, feel good, and keep on, you are stronger than you believe. You haven't even begun to test yourself.

Sometimes when I get down or blue with all that can happen I play this (and others) to help. And it does, because I believe that each of us is responsible for their own happiness, success, and answers...

That, of course does not mean that we can't use a shoulder from time to time. I have had many mentors and friends over the years (and now) that have offered me "that shoulder" but almost all of them have said "you can do this,"... one more time.
