Well... why not go to counseling with him? He probably needs to be with someone alone, but its not the worst idea for you to go as well.

When my daughter needed some help through some severe depression my wife went the first few times. They had some things they needed to say to each other, and doing it in someone else's presence was helpful.

And in this case, you might be able to get him to go by making the first meetings about getting through this ordeal. He might feel better having some time to talk this out in front of someone else, and you might need to hear what the counselor has to say.

Then its likely that this incident will become the tree in front of the forest, and he will move past it to start to deal with his underlying anger.

So maybe make that appt for you both. I think it's a good idea.

The therapy started because he understood he needed to see someone. BUT I've told him numerous times that I'd go with him if he wanted for his single sessions OR I could make it a couples session. He never really answered me, just recognized that at least HE has to go. Now I'm going to set it up for the two of us and just tell him "this is when we're going." kind of like what I do with the dentist and the doctor.

sounds like what my wife used to do... schedule the things she knew id put off and make me go. =)

id say she has me "trained" better now... but she might hesitate... I think telling me to do it only 3 or 4 times is progress.
