That is why I have gone to organic as much as I possibly can.
I look at people who go the pro active health route and they are mostly healthy into their later years while the people that ate and drank whatever have serious health problems and in nursing homes many with dementia. Their choices did effect their health.

I use the same reasoning as you, andrewc, when I see a vending machine and there's soda, juice and water and they're all the same price, no way would I pay that for the plain water! The water should be far cheaper, it makes no sense.

I don't filter water either. My fridge has a filter built in but it has been due to be replaced forever now, I'm not replacing it. I'll drink water fom a stream, I don't care! There is a spot along the road here where a spring runs, ages ago someone put a pipe into the spring so it's easier to collect the water in jugs. People come from all over to get this water. I never filtered it. It tastes so good. When the jug settles, you can see the dirt that has settled to the bottom... I don't care! Well, I dump out the water once I get towards the bottom, I don't drink the dirt... Never got sick. I don't worry about things like that! Never have, never will.

Yeah people complain a gallon of gas is $2.60 but they will spend over a dollar on a 20/24 oz bottle of water without a problem.

I've been using my filter a lot more after reading this thread :)

I've even been giving my dogs the filtered stuff... even though they seem to enjoy drinking from puddles outside after it has rained more

The price of water is ridiculous, when I used to work in a café people would come in and buy water in the fancy containers paying up to $3 essentially just for a pretty bottle.

Yea bottled water would be easier to swallow if it were priced accordingly.
I also have been known to sip water from a spring once in a while. When you are thristy, you are thirsty.

When mowing the grass, and I'm to tired to walk up to the house, I drink from the hose.

Yea I've been sick, never after drinking unfiltered water though.

I'd be more worried about some of the crap they put in our processed food.
