I think you all make good points for and against the site. However, I do believe that MSN and text messaging are somewhat different than status updates and other things that make Facebook what it is or rather what draws people to it.

Texting a close friend or speaking with them on MSN is a private conversation between (I assume) close friends. Facebook has the wall in which others "friends" can see a conversation take place (still can't figure out why anyone would want their conversations public). I know you can PM on Facebook but then why not just use texting or MSN?

I think it is because people WANT others to see that they speak to so and so and that they converse with SO many different people to feel important and popular. MSN does not achieve this purpose, nor does you cell phone really. In fact, if your cell phone was public many would probably enter a bunch of names and numbers to impress the person looking.

I agree it can be used properly, like Synnen and NK use it (I'm trusting you guys here:)) but I do think there is a difference between people on Facebook and people who'd rather use MSN or texting.

Oh and a side affect of Facebook for some users STUPIDITY:

Yeah, but if it gets the stupid people out of the gene pool when they're still teenagers, and BEFORE they reproduce... isn't that a GOOD thing?

I joined Facebook so that I could connect with my family in Germany, sadly the one relative that's actually on Facebook hardly ever checks it.

I go weeks without going on and then all of a sudden I'll have a spurt where I'm on daily.

My husband joined not that long ago and decided to use the app where you can buy people. He ended up getting into a bidding war over me with someone neither one of us knows. Sent shivers down my spine, not good ones either.

It is what it is and what you make it. If it gets to be too much, just delete your account.

AMHD and Facebook are the only things I use. No MSN, no twitter, or any of that other stuff. I don't wish to share what I did in the bathroom 5 minutes ago. Unless you guys want to know. ;)

What I really don't understand about Facebook is why you have to be connected to everything that everyone you have ever known and everybody they have ever known in life. I'm sure there is a way and maybe not to only receive responses from some, but when you comment on something you are then looped in to know what everyone that comments on that topic says... I think one super nosey SOB created Facebook. It's a jealous snoopy, nosey boyfriends dream come true. Ugly site.

I recently used Facebook to find friends I've not seen for a long time and try to keep in touch. You never know when you can be in a situation you'll need someone. Fortunately, though there's AMHD! :) On, my most visited site list on Mozilla, AMHD is the top one ;)

I use MSN only rarely, for people disliking Facebook.

Unfortunately you can't delete your account on Facebook! When you go and remove everything like yoour photos and profile information, you can still log in after deleting your account and all your info is still there. It just can't be done!

Ive come up with an idea input needed
