Thanks again everyone.

It was a rough night last night, I spent a lot of it crying, and then being really angry. But today is a new day. I've written a few letters, contacted a few people (my sister in law that still owes us our inheritance, being one of them) and we'll see if I can work something out.

Sadly, much like the inheritance thing (Scott you may remember that, it was my first question on AMHD, the reason I actually joined this site, and you gave me some advice) R doesn't want to deal with this. He doesn't want to talk about it, he doesn't want to think about it, he's hoping it will just go away, or be settled. That's always what I have to deal with whenever something unpleasant happens. The thing is, he has to deal with this. I can make calls, contact people, but when push comes to shove, he's going to have to be the one to deal with this lender, because his name is on the contract, not mine. I can't make any deal with them, they won't even talk to me, I tried.

So tonight proves to be another difficult night, because I'm going to have to be a bit mean about this to get him to deal with it. :(

... I don't think Canada has the same solicitor/barrister system the UK has and a barrister only gets involved if it comes to trial. ...

By "rights of audience" it is meant that solicitors may not speak in the courtroom. And note that it says "higher courts". I believe English solicitors may have "audience" in lower courts.

It doesn't appear that the distinction is made in Canada. In other words, it is the same as the U.S.
