I love mine! I have the non-hormonal copy kind. I have heavier periods, bt it's worth it to not have the hormones in my body. Hormones didn't work wel for me. I had bad cramps when I got mine in. I have a very high tolerance for pain, and I thought it was fairly uncomfortable, but I managed. I'd take the day off just in case. But I'd definitely recommend it.

I just wanted to let you know about my own personal experience with the IUD. I almost died from septic shock because of it. I went to the doctor with severe abdominal pain and was misdiagnosed with a bladder infection. Less than a month later I became severely ill with shaking chills, high fever, and vomiting. I was misdiagnosed twice within a week with the flu. It turned out that I ended up in intensive care for a month and I was on a respirator for three weeks. I had a complete hysterectomy plus they had to do surgery on my lungs because the infection had spread not only throughout my entire gut but also to my lungs. I was also looking for a birth control method without hormones because I react to the hormones so much. Please consider other forms that are less invasive to the body such as the diaphragm. The risks are real and not just numbers on a piece of paper. I knew what the risks were but I allowed people to convince me that the odds were very low that any of these things would happen to me. If you do choose to have the IUD, if you should ever experience any of the symptoms, please be VERY FIRM with the doctors and INSIST that they take these symptoms very seriously. I nearly died because of the IUD and because the doctors kept misdiagnosing what was happening to me. Please be cautious.
