    As citizens we have an obligation to obey the law. As HUMANS we have an obligation to protect our children.. Paterno MAY have followed one set of directives, but he was woefully inadequate in the other.

    Yes, the grad student/assistant (the redhead) was ethically and morally obliged to report what he had witnessed, but his failure to do so obliged whoever he told.

    And why isn't Paterno now feeling ethically and morally obliged to stop any rioting by students? He's failing again as an educator.

    McQueary was NOT a YOUNG grad assistant. He was a 28-year-old MAN at the time!

    You're not sure what you would have done? That's very telling about you. Any MAN would have known instinctively what to do.
