I'm asking mainly for future terms. Sorry about that.

Then you should have specified that. But you specifically said you were those ages, in fact posting untruths. That brings everything you have posted into question. So I suggest you quit while you are behind.

Her parents can not consent if she is under age, they will just not press charges ( at the time) but other people can notify the authorities, a ex girlfriend, one of her friends or your friends who get mad at you. A teacher who may find out, other people, esp if she gets pregnant

OK. SHE can consent. The age is 16 when its legal to have sex with someone up to 20 yrs old. If she was 15 and I was 18 its illegal but 16 you are at the age where it is legal. Even though nobody should have sex unless they can support a baby

    Age of consent?

Okay here in Nevada it is 16. So what I'm confused on is like what's the point of having that? Are you only allowed to have sex with a 16-17 year old? I mean we all know in high school everybody has sex. Hell there are seniors who are 18 sleeping with freshman who are 14 (yes its illegal but for some reason nobody cares at my school, I mean I don't cause the girl is just dumb and gives it up cause they are older) but anyway. I'm just afraid cause I'm a junior dating a freshman and we are less then 2 years apart in age and right now she's 14 I'm 16 and I'm just worried for the future if we date all through high school. Cause when she is 16 I'll be 18 and we will both be in high school still (she will be a sophomore and I a senior) So can I just get clarification if these laws are correct. (Yes I understand she is a minor but 16 is the age of consent so don't say "your an adult and she is a minor that's illegal.) Also when she's 16 I will be 17 for a bit and I have no intentions of ending a relationship just cause I'm 18. So can you clarify these laws? (Also just one more thing. My neighbour's son is 19 dating a junior at my school and she is 16 and they have sex and it seems fine so again also based off that can you clarify if its fine in his situation also?)

The age a person can legally consent to sexual activity in the state of Nevada is 16; however, if the adult involved in the sexual act is 21 years of age or older and is a teacher, instructor, professor, administrator, head coach, assistant coach or in certain positions of authority over the minor at an educational institution, it is a crime to have sexual relations with a student under the age of 18. (Unless they are married)

A 16 year old is a "minor" under the laws of the state of Nevada and is under the legal authority of their parent or guardian. There can be other legal risk to adults over the age of 18 who are involved with a minor sexually if the parents pursue legal actions to terminate the relationship.

Also her parents love me to death! I treat there daughter with the most respect and would never do anything to hurt her. So the last part about if I'm 18 and her 16 I do understand that the parents can use the 'law" to end the relationship but I know for a fact that won't happen. So just cut that part out

Yes I do understand the consequences of pregnancy and if we plan to I will try and wait until I can financially support a child.

So are you 16, 18, Senior, Junior??

Yes I do understand the consequences of pregnancy and if we plan to I will try and wait until I can financially support a child.
Listen, I'm not stupid. You're going to have sex regardless of what we say about financial status and contraceptives etc... but let me give you one piece of advice.

ALWAYS wear a condom, regardless. Just because you're in the back of your blazer, sloshed off keg beer and you can't find the condom but you want to sooo bad.

(it's funny now when I look back on it, I think to myself... was I really that stupid?)

Being of the age of consent isn't the only factor here. Right now her parents like you, but if they find out you are having sex, that may change.

Bottom line here you are 2 years away from this. The fact that this is occupying your mind now is not a good sign.

You know the law but don't know why it exists? So that IF someone is taken advantage of or just feels taken advantage of, that person or a parent or anyone can file suit to protect the minor. Please realize that people change their minds, and once someone feels jilted or wronged in some way, or gets pregnant and doesn't agree with you about the next step, or someone thinks you gave her drugs or drove too fast or took her somewhere risky, or any reason at all, all your love and caring don't mean much in a courtroom.
So, yes, plenty of underage sex goes on, between teens and between teens and legally defined adults, but every day somewhere in the country someone is filing charges.
"I know for a fact that won't happen" are famous last words. No one on this planet knows the future.
And I know this will fall on deaf ears, but at your ages, so much will change in your outlooks on life and friends and feelings that planning that far ahead just isn't wise.

    SIGH**
I had just replied to your previous post when I read this. Surprise surprise - not.
You are normal. You are a Typical Teen. You are just as confused as any other young person in love, in like, best friends, good friends, intense feelings one minute, wanting freedom the next. It's the cost of growing up and it can be torture but we all go through it, most of us anyway. You have a good heart, I think, and don't want to hurt anyone, and will learn a lot and be nice to have around someday when a long term relationship is right.

no.. it's NOT weird. Who cares what other people say.. there are always those that judge but you have to know who you are and rise above and try not be vulnerable.

It is cute... and you like her. Just have fun. Stop thinking so much, you said yourself that you don't think about this dumb age stuff when you're with her. Maybe be with her more often.. lmao :)

She may verbally be able to consent however if you check the laws out in your state she's not legally allowed to make that ruling as she's a minor. It's a really sticky situation for you. As much as you may be in love you're taking RISKS... that may not be in your best interest if say someone OTHER THAN HER FAMILY files a complaint or brings this whole drama to the police... people are fickle... you never know what can happen.

Put yourself and your future above all else. Do you REALLY need a statutory rape charge?? Google it...

My nephew had a circumstance similar to this one... he was dating a girl.. he was to be 18 in two months... he met her at a party and she claimed to be 17 and turning 18 in a couple of months. Well she LIED. She was really 15 turning 16. In the end my nephew didn't take any chances even though he really liked her. He knew this could end badly and as he said, "Aunty dee, there are just too many fish in the sea to take that risk". He wants a promising future without a record of any kind, total control of his life and his future. I mean, what if he breaks up with her and she gets super pissed... and decides to mess with his life by filing the complaint THEN? You're scr*wed... :(

SweetDee does not find this helpful : why do you sound angry scott? Calm down

First, may I call your attention to the guidelines for using the comments feature found here:

There was nothing that wasn't factual in my response therefore a negative comment was totally inappropriate.

I was perfectly calm. We have someone playing games with us by lying about the facts. We don't like that here.
