You answered your own question in your comment. "I am lusting for the other guy." Lust is not grounds for a solid relationship. Give the other guy a chance. Sometimes some good relationships starts with a friendship that can last for a long time. Lust will fade over the years.

Exactly. It's a great decision you made. And when you say that if he was interested, he could have taken 5 minutes out of his busy day to talk. Or even an email explaining why he hasn't talked to you lately. This new guy sounds like a good bet for you!
