As a Wiccan Priest of the Celtic Tradition I believe that I am qualified to answer your question in detail. Magic works, whether you want to believe in it or not. If you believe in God and his bible then there's no reason why you shouldn't believe in magic, as the bible says several times that magic and witchcraft exist. If it wasn't real then God wouldn't call it an abomination (Btw: I used to be christian before converting to Wicca, so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to christianity). If your friend doesn't believe then that's on them, but black magic, voodoo (voudon would be the religion) or any other form of magic does exist and is very real. Love spells, money spells, curses and hexes, spells of healing and destruction, its all very real. Of course, in Wicca we prefer to stay on the lighter side of things and work our magic for good, however, Wicca is a nature based religion. And nature herself has both positive and negative aspects so why not explore both the positive and negative aspects of magic. That is in no way promoting black magic, but one philosophy that Wiccans teach is balance. So why not balance the light and dark sides of magic? As for the person who claims to be Wiccan then claim that Wiccans aren't Witches really needs to check their history. In 1999 the "Witches Council" (a group of High Priests and Priestesses from nearly every major tenet and tradition of Wicca) came together and adopted the term "Witch" as their own. So I guess one who is Wiccan has a choice to call him/herself a Witch, but the term does belong to Wiccans. Someone who just practices magic without a religious affiliation can call themselves a Witch if they wish, but a member of Wicca would not see them as thus. I hope this answers any and all questions. If you have a problem or question about anything I've said please feel free to message me back or email me at [email protected] and I'd be glad to respond. I stand by the Goddess in everything that I do so I stand by what I've said here. Blessed be in the Name of the Mother Goddess.

Hey Jam - thanks - I do have the utmost respect for everyone and am open to all - like I said though, I was merely pointing out that there are quite a number of scheisters on the internet - Im here to help my friend do the research before she spends close to 3000 for a love spell - she is in a really sad and desperate state, and I don't want people to take advantage of her - like in all her relationships - and if there are people who can help her I will also direct them - as Ive been doing

Jammix I have a question and I have no disrespect in this question but I just wondered why you speak of balance, but at the end you mention the goddess but not the god. Shouldn't we show reverence to both? Just a question and please do not take offense I just wondered about it. Thanks

    Dear MsInformed,
I agree with Synnen that you should be careful what you ask for and it is a bad idea to try and change someone's free will. When you mess with someone's free will it can change them as a person, possibly into something she may not like! May I suggest that if she has the money to spend on an expensive spell that instead maybe she should use that money and get a make over or take some sort of singles cruise or weekend get away where she could meet someone new who just might be the right guy or at least Mr. Right Now which could help her get over the "old guy" and boost her confidence. You have to love yourself first before someone else can truly love you back.

OK as a friend I've listen to her, given her as unbiasaed advice as possible - listen to her, and as you see I'm even helping to do research for her - cause I don't want any of the creeps taking advantage of here in this state - but it's up to her to make up her own mind, which is pretty set - which is this guy - she swears he's the one

I mean she's a smart, pretty, (usually) independent woman - she just ends up meeting guys that just dump her out of the blue

I believe it's mind over matter - someone tells you that you're under a spell - wouldn't you - in the back of your mind be a bit weary/ skeptical - even so cautious as to create it all yourself?

But I am not ruling it out - I hardly have my own religion down - and would like an expert's opion and advice - and if there is someone who can answer this question - it would be appreciated.

    THANKS!
Hi. I am new here so I feel a bit timid to reply or post or whatever. Anyway, I am very interested in/fascinated by Wicca so I hope that I can talk to more of the experts about it. MsInformed, has your friend read The Secret? It is a pretty interesting book and ties in to so many belief systems that I've studied. You should check in to it. I can totally empathize with your friend. She is lucky to have you there to support her. Recently my husband, the m---f--er, cheated on me with a woman who claims to practice Wicca. So, I am interested to see how all of this plays out, you know? I don't dismiss "spells" and other practices and I believe that Wicca is used purely for good but what is going to happen to her? One of the main precepts of the faith is that you cannot purposefully harm another person or that harm will return to you 3 fold. She certainly harmed me and my 3 children. I don't know. What do you all think?

Karma is Karma and it will come around. I don't know your husband so I can't say but maybe she did you a favor by showing you his true colors. Maybe there is something better for you and your kids down the road. I know it must hurt a lot. And I feel very sorry for you but keep your chin up and just know it will come back and keep a positive attitude.
    Wishing you the best

Path: I do not take offense to your question. You are correct, I did speak about balance but did not mention the God anywhere in my statement above. It is true that in Wicca we do honor both a Goddess and a God, however, we give greater reverence to the Mother Goddess. That is in no way saying that the God is any less important. Both are highly revered, but being that Wicca focuses on the feminine powers more so than masculine, we give honor to the Great Mother first and foremost.

I will however say that in Wicca we believe that the Goddess holds everything in balance. But when I spoke about balance it was in no way a reference to the Divine, but to the types of magic we practice in Wicca.

Well, I am Wiccan and I can say most spells off the internet don't work but if she want to try it let her. I've been surprised.

Wiccan spells can be compared to prayer--if you don't BELIEVE they're going to work, they're not going to.

And, like prayer, of COURSE some people are skeptical about it.

Wiccans don't perform magick anymore, especially after all the hunts, and especially not American Wiccans. No you want magick? Talk to some gypsies in Italy. There's no way ill be able to convince you over the internet, but I saw things I only thought Hollywood could do.

Funny, I'm an American Wiccan, and I perform magick. Just not for profit, and not magick that would affect the free will of others.

It's not the showy stuff that people want, and it's not the "make me rich" or "make him love me" that Hollywood shows. But it's there, and it works.

And now, since this thread is 3 years old, I am closing it. Please start a new thread if you want to discuss this further.
