Good!
Then how about the following for a first line of words?
"My heart it feels so lonely."
What do you think?

Sounds accurate, if a little cliché, but that's not the point of our exercise, I like it. We should go with it

Then, how about you write the second line to go along with the first one? I am thinking of 4/4 time and the lines basically being eight beats long. I know that it would be helpful to see some printed music for this, and I will be providing that. But, for now, I'm hoping to communicate some things to you by just using words. It's 4:17 A.M. where I am now.
Do you know the C and G7 chords on both the guitar and the piano? If so, what other chords do you know? We need to establish an appropriate key for the piece. Thanks!

I know all chords on the guitar (exception being all the add9add11 and completely obscure stuff) and on piano its easy to figure out the chords everything is right in front of you so that's no trouble at all.
If its 4:17 am go to bed! Lol don't stay up on account of us doing this, ill work on this more and PM you what I've written before I log off if you like.
Second line.
My heart it feels so lonely
It feels it needs you here
But my head knows much better
... something... haha that's OK

I think that you've definitely got the right idea here! ;) What you have continued with as far as the lyrics fitting metrically with the beat is perfect! Please keep at it! There is no need to private message me when you have written more words because I will know when you have posted more to this thread. I will show you how to do the rest at a later time then. Okay? :)

My suggestion is to just write what you are feeling no matter what it is, just write it all down, even if all you do is write all day long and it's not really a song or poem. Just write down what you see around you and what is happening or what you are thinking about. On a later day or time, you may just be able to read over it and get ideas from it. I have stacks of "unfinished" ideas. I have many times come back to those stacks and used something from it. I am very picky about my lyrics, so I end up with a whole lot more unfinished works than finished ones. You could also type it, but I always resort back to handwriting. I regret destroying some of my original lyrics now (I transferred them to my computer)

I'm 100,000 words into my story and I've got a nagging feeling it's too slow. The story takes place several years after the country was hit by drought and how people are still suffering from its effects. The maincharacter is a seventeen year old girl who was rescued from a lap dancing club and...
