Every citation has to have a court date. A citation or ticket is a promise to appear in court. You could go to sherrif's office or police station and obtain a copy of your record. That ticket is pn your record as a class C theft. I don't see why you can't travel, you can.

I was never booked into the police station or issued a court date. The officer said he wasn't going to charge me instead he gave me a $ 65.00 fine right there at the store, I had 21 one days to pay it so I pay it before the due date and paid the fine with visa you had options on how you wanted to pay it. All I wanted to know was does a fine mean I have a criminal record? Or a conviction record? I live in Ontario Canada. :)

3rd or 5th year in texas. If the crime was victim less, like in your case, it can be erased from your record, but you have to pay. Every state varies. In your situation, I know attorneys that will do it for about 300. But, then again I live in a small town border, where it is not too expensive. What state are you on? How old are you? I'm sorry this happened to you. It was something you didn't think will bring consequences. I'm in no position to judge you. I'm sure you will not do it again.

I got caught shoplifting in Texas. Where do you live? Can you give me information on those attorneys that can get it off my record?

You cannot post specific names on this site - if you call the Bar Association for your County and ask for firms that handle these matters, they will give you a list.

You are responding to a thread that's over a year old.

Here's Texas law: "A person may petition a court for an [B]order of nondisclosure [five years after the discharge and dismissal of enumerated misdemeanor offenses and ten years after the discharge and dismissal of felony offenses for which the person was placed on deferred adjudication and successfully completed the required community supervision [Tex. Gov't. Code 411.081(d)(1)(2) ] He wouldn't be eligible for an expungment though since he was convicted."
