Here's one that I latched onto when I was a teenager and really liked. :)

There are a number of variations for it. I have no idea where it originated.

Do not walk in front of me, I may not follow. Do not walk behind me, I may not lead. Walk beside me and be my friend.

Do not walk in front of me, I may not follow; do not walk behind me, I don't lead, walk beside me and be my friend.

Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow
Don't walk behind me, I may not lead
Just walk beside me and be my friend
Together we will walk along in harmony.

I go by the saying that

"the only stupid questions are the ones that never get asked"

I am an administrator on a bird website with members from all over the world,
However when first joiining the people that don't have much experience of birds are always to afraid to ask questions as they think of them as stupid or they don't want to be seen to ask a stupid obvious question,

In my opinion an answer is only obvious if the person knows the information, to somebody who wants help and doesn't know, if they don't ask they never will know,

I always tell them that no matter how big or small or how stupid a question may seem to them, that the only stupid questions are the ones that never get asked...

If you don't ask you don't get the answer and it is better to ask a question than not know the answer.. and may cause something to go wrong,

I will answer any question I know the answer to and encourage anybody else to do the same, as what seems stupid to one person is quite often not...
If you want to know something and do not ask the question then in my eyes , it is stupid not to ask for help or guidance in order to solve the problem,

Watched The Little Black Book this weekend... love that movie. :)

Stacy: I believe we write our own stories. And each time we think we know the end - we don't. Perhaps luck exists somewhere between the world of planning, the world of chance, and in peace that comes from knowing that you just can't know it all. You know, life's funny that way. Once you let go of the wheel, you might end up right where you belong.

You must weed your mind as you would weed your garden. ~Astrid Alauda

Beware the fury of a patient man. ~John Dryden, Absolam and Achitophel, 1680

The ear tends to be lazy, craves the familiar, and is shocked by the unexpected: the eye, on the other hand, tends to be impatient, craves the novel and is bored by repetition. ~W.H. Auden, The Dyer's Hand

Today I'm quoting The Mummy - one of my all-time favorite movies... not actually sure WHY these quotes were in my head today... but for what its worth! :)

Dr. Bey: [stutters in disbelief] Oh look at this! Sons of the pharaohs! Give me frogs! Flies, locusts! Anything but you. Compared to you the other plagues were a joy!
Evelyn: I am so very sorry it was an accident.
Dr. Bey: My darling girl, when Ramses destroyed Syria, that was an accident. You are a catastrophe!
    __________________________________________________ _________________

Evelyn: Look, I... I may not be an explorer, or an adventurer, or a treasure-seeker, or a gunfighter, Mr. O'Connell, but I am proud of what I am.
    Rick: And what is that?
Evelyn: I... am a librarian. (In my case... "I.... am a Historian")

A grandfather is someone with silver in his hair and gold in his heart. ~Author Unknown

The best place to be when you're sad is Grandpa's lap. ~Author Unknown

The history of our grandparents is remembered not with rose petals but in the laughter and tears of their children and their children's children. It is into us that the lives of grandparents have gone. It is in us that their history becomes a future. ~Charles and Ann Morse

When to the sessions of sweet silent thought I summon up remembrance of things past, I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought, And with old woes new wail my dear time's waste: Then can I drown an eye, unused to flow, For precious friends hid in death's dateless night, And weep afresh love's long since cancell'd woe, And moan the expense of many a vanish'd sight: Then can I grieve at grievances foregone, And heavily from woe to woe tell o'er The sad account of fore-bemoaned moan, Which I new pay as if not paid before. But if the while I think on thee, dear friend, All losses are restored and sorrows end.”

    Interpratation of the quote above.

When in these sessions of gratifying silent thought, I think of the past, lament my failure to achieve all that I wanted, And I sorrowfully remember that I wasted the best years of my life:Then I can cry, although I am not used to crying,For dear friends now hid in death's unending night,And cry again over woes that were long since healedAnd lament the loss of many things that I have seen and loved:Then can I grieve over past griefs again,And sadly repeat (to myself) my woes. The sorrowful account of griefs already grieved for which (the account) I repay as if I had not paid before. But if I think of you while I am in this state of sadness, dear friend All my losses are compensated for and my sorrow ends.
