You know... I usually love kids.
But this particular niece is completely spoiled by her parents and grandparents. If she doesn't get her way, she starts shrieking until she does.
When she's at my house, with my rules, she gets a swat for that. I don't put up with that crap. I'm the adult, I make the rules, and she doesn't HAVE to like them.
But I've had a headache for over a week, and I'm just starting the barrage of tests I'll have to go through. I'll be damned if I'll put up with that little girl's shrieks, my house or not. It'll probably cause rifts within the family, and everyone will be pissed at me, but for heaven's sake---she's almost 4! She should know by now that there are rules, even if the only rules are no TV while eating, and food should be eaten at the table... that sort of thing.

I am hoping to sleep in on Sunday and be waited on hand and foot. It's my birthday and the hubby won't be at work... after that who knows... lol. Father in law is a disney land dad. Always around for the good times but when things get tough he's not around. Mil and I get along really well... can you believe that?? Lol

My mother in law is Mrs. Claus. Seriously.
She's always sweet and nice and makes me cookies, and helps me with the hard mending, and teaches me knitting, and is really just the nicest woman in the world.
My father in law is a redneck Republican who thinks that Dubya is the greatest thing since bread. He and I butt heads a lot.

Sound like she's wonderful. My mil just helped us start the process of buying our first home... We have a lot of work to do on it but it's worth it... especially for the price. No more renting... yeah!!

That is funny because my in laws are the exact opposite of yours. My FIL is the sweetest kindest man I have ever met. I now call him Dad, which is a big step for me.
My mil is also nice, but she is manipulative. Nice one second and then turns on you on a dime. She talks nice to your face, but there is no follow through. And I firmly believe that she is jealous of the fact that I am with her son. I try really hard to please her... and that is tiring... and makes me want to mix a vodka and tonic.

Yeah... I'm bringing a bottle of scotch with me.
And stopping for ear plugs on the way home tonight, too.

My hubby tolerates my mom who has gotten to the point where she just kind of talks and talks and talks whether anyone is listening - or even in the room for that matter.
His mother is a hypocondriac (sp?) that doesn't talk about much besides her aches, pains and doctor's visits. She used to not like me much, but since my Brother in Law remarried - I am the Good DIL, and the new DIL is evil.
I lost my FIL last November - 59 years old to a heart attack. My dad died 2 years ago of stomach cancer. This will be the first year I don't have someone to mail a Father's Day card to.
