    Ex-boyfriend filed bankruptcy, how does this affect me and the sale of our house?
    I was supposed to be married in July 2004, the wedding did not occur. Trying to make the relationship work we bought a house together. Early in 2006 we separated and he moved out. Since then I have been paying the mortgage car payment, etc... myself. In July of 2007 he filed for bankruptcy. How does this affect me and the sale of the home? I am working two jobs right now to pay for everything, but would like to sell the house to cut all ties with my ex.
    I just found out that the mortgage company was accepting my payments, but not applying them due to the bankruptcy and now they have added a bunch of fee and late charges even though I have been paying. They did finally apply my payments but say I owe the fees or they are going to start the foreclosure proceedings. I don't understand any of this. Can anyone explain this to me? I have contacted lawyers but most of them have not gotten back to me yet, or want to charge me for "consulting" with them. Thanks.:confused:
