Immigration status

Hi,

I am green card holder and in next couple of years will be eligible to apply for citizenship, I got married 6 months ago and my husband is on h-1b visa, his visa is valid until July next years, I have applied I-130 for him,

My question is can he still stay here in US if he fell off his current status,he cannot re-new his h-1b, can he change his visa into F1 to stay legal until I get my citizenship, or can he apply for adjustment of status to get work permit.
Please help me knowing about it, thanks.
