    Keeping former residents comfortable
I know I have unseen visitors in my home. I live in a home built in the late 1800's in Virginia. I have done a lot of remodeling on my home trying to restore it to it's original beauty. Every time I do major renovations, I get the phenomena of doors slamming, middle c on my piano playing, water turning on and off and tools being moved. While tiling my kitchen floor I saw a small boy with blonde hair and overalls that were too large standing behind me. I thought I had been staring at tile too long and took a break. When I can back home from a visit with friends, the same small child was standing on my front porch as if he was waiting for me. My son has also seen this child.
As soon as the renovation project is completed, the events stop and the little boy is not seen. There is nothing menacing about what happens in my home. There have been people in the past that will not come into my home because they say they get a creepy feeling about being here. I am wondering if anyone has a suggestion about how to keep the peace while doing the renovations. I am almost done, but I have one last major task and I am concerned about the degree of discomfort I am causing the other residents ( and the extent of retaliation they might cause me). The degree of phenomena has been commensurate with the size of the project being completed (ie. Stripping wallpaper may evoke a few piano incidents while the tiling instance evoked an actual person). I welcome all suggestions. Oh yeah, I can't do it in small steps. All the plaster is weakening and needs to be removed and replaced in the hallway both upstairs and down.
