    Ice maker won't make ice
Im sure someone messed with this thing. But it's a kenmore side by side fridge about a 1 1/2 years old. Putting the arm in the down positions usually triggers that unit to fill the aisle with water and then proceeds to freeze to make ice. Well that's not happening and I can't find the manual at this moment. Nor can I find a manual online.

Im wondering if there is a calibration since there is a geared wheel with electrical contacts on the back of it that operates the machine depending on its position.

Can anybody help me with this

Besides the arm there is also a on/off switch on the side of the ice maker. Do you know where it is and sure no one rocked (it is a rocker switch) it?

Well I don't see a power switch on the unit itself.. My model number is a kenmore 106.55399400

It usually shuts itself off when the arm goes up. So I took off the wheel and turn the position of the cube ejector fingers and reinstalled the gear and it cycled and started to fill up the tray with water. So when I get home to night Im going to see if its working again.

    But I don't see any on/off switch

There is a way to reset your icemaker, but I do not believe it is in the manual (at least it wasn't for my GE) and for the life of me I can't remember how we did it...

If you don't have an on/off switch- have you tried unplugging the fridge/freezer for a few minutes to let it's "brain" reset?

Does your icemaker/fridge have a filter? I've heard it suggested to try replacing the filter...

We tried everything and GE wound up having to replace the icemaker (but it was under warranty... thank goodness :-)...

    Best wishes and good luck!

Is your freezer cold enough, the ice maker won't work if it's not cold enough. ( usually needs to be colder than +20 ) Have you check the plug on the ice maker itself to be sure it is plugged in? Did anyone shut off the water to the refrigerator? You also could have a bad ice maker, there's numerous parts inside the ice maker that can fail.

Some units you need to put the arm up and down 3 times to reset it and then keep in in the down position and it takes a couple hours to make the first batch of ice... Not sure this will work on yours.. Hope this helps

So since you or someone is throwing bad marks on us I think I'll just go help someone who appreciates it. BTW, whoever gave JackT a bad mark too that counts as a single point. I just gave him a balancer worth 5 points so just keep throwing those reddies at us, our friend will give us back 5 fold. By the way, there is no such refrigerator. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/search_10...=1332456022582

Ice Maker Won't Make Ice on its Own [ 0 Answers ]

In addition to the jacuzzi issue, my ice maker won't produce ice on its own. The family who lived here before me never had it connected; the refrigerator is not quite 2 years old. It's a Kitchen-Aid. If I fill up the tray with water, it eventually freezes and the ice is released. I can hear water...
