Abortion and pregnancy test job requirements
It's been 6 days since I had an abortion and I am still bleeding. I know that my pregnancy tests will show possitive for a while, but I got a job that requires me to do a pregnancy test. What can I do? I need to work and the test have to be done before I start working less than a month from now?

You'll have to inform them of your situation. There is no way to get the hcg levels lowered manually, it takes time. Depending on how far along you were they might be low enough to bring a negative by the time you test.

Also where are you, I am questioning the legality of even asking you that you are pregnant in the US anyway. In most places I know of, I don't see where a pregnancy test for employment is possible

I understand. What I'd like to know is if any other test proving am no longer pregnant would be acceptable?

It's a job on cruises. I am quite sure a month is enough time to rest and prepare for work. My concern is this challenge taking a pregnancy test that may come out possitive.

You notify them of the abortion and provide records from the doctor who did the abortion.

I was going into the legality of even requesting a pregnancy test, in most places it most likely is not even legal. Also what proof they may or not be allowed

Most issues are very location based.

That's true, Chuck. Before I returned home I realized that it is mandatory and thought nothing of it at the time. But given the situation I'm in, I need this to work in my favor. I've considered other options, but none will suit my expenses and responsibilities-going back to the ships is closest to taking care of things.

Did you get an abortion legally in your country or travel somewhere else to get one?

First I am sorry, we did not perhaps properly directly address the question. No there is no way to change anything, and it will just take time for the levels to change. If you test, best choice is to just show them records of it

Sorry, but I have to address this, in your favour of course, usually after an abortion they recommend curetage, a cleaning out of the uterus. I hope that you don't develop any kind of complications while on the cruise ship.

Tickle, thanks for your input. The full story is this: I missed my period for 4 days but kept getting serious cramps as though I was having it. The 5th day I took a pregnancy test and immediately after I stated to bleed, the blood was very dark. After seeing a doc he told me I'm losing the pregnancy and he can do the removal. That is still an abortion, right? After losing a lot of blood, drinking a lot of fluids, taking my prescription like clockwork, and staying on my back with feet up as much as possible-I am still bleeding, with pain. This is a new concern to add to going through whatever procedure the company I work for may have for this kind of thing. Do I really have to go through another physically and emotionally painful experience to make this work?

Telephone the Doctor who performed the procedure (?) and ASK HIM/HER. If you are in pain you could have already developed an infection.

You need to concentrate on your health and not this job. I'm more worried about you than I am about your employment.

I'm amazed that a cruise line is doing pregnancy testing on potential employees (but I do understand their reasoning).

Its up to you, but infection is a problem, especially in warmer climates. It doesn't matter how good your hygiene is but there is always the chance and you just had a very invasive procedure, and you are still bleeding.

Its up to you, but I couldn't help but mention this for your own welfare.

Why would this matter when it comes to employment and test levels?

No, this isn't an abortion, this is a miscarriage.

The only reason a D & C was done was because you were miscarrying. Been there, done that, and it's not an abortion.
