I have never been on any type of birth control. My boyfriend and I have had sex unprotected for 3 years and I have not gotten pregnant. I get my period every month and never skipped but now I am getting my period twice a month. I only get 14 days between the 2. This has been going on for the past four months. Could this be a reason why I cannot get pregnant? What is going on? My boyfriend already has children so I know he's perfectly capable. Getting my period twice a month has happened in the past but it always regulated itself but this time it's been going on too long. Any suggestions?

If you've been trying to conceive for the last 3 years with no luck, it's time to talk to your doctor and have him refer you to a fertility specialist.

Have you been "trying" to get pregnant, or just randomly having sex when you want to for fun.

Have you tracked and found your most fertile time and refrain from sex before those ?

There's a difference between Trying to conceive and just hoping to get pregnant.

Are you tracking ovulation? Have you spoken to an OB/Gyn about prenatal pills (you should be taking them even BEFORE pregnancy if you are TTC)? Are you having sex BEFORE you ovulate? Once you ovulate, it's too late that month!

The change in your period should have you seeing your doctor. If you are not having regular cycles, it is next to impossible to track your ovulation and attempt to conceive.

Finally--don't assume that your boyfriend has no problems. There are PLENTY of things that can change between kids--and it might be the combination of the two of you, and not just you or him preventing conception.

Finally--why are you trying to have a child with someone who is not willing to make a legal commitment to you? It is in your best interests--and that of your child--to be MARRIED when the child is born.
