60 gal. sewage pump in basement functions but walls and wires coat with a white chalky material that is very difficult to remove with a pressure nozzle on the hose, and difficult to impossible to scrape off. Can a material or chemical be added to the tank when full the would make this cleaning process easier or needed less frequently?

Hi smeew. That white substance is most likely soap scum and or greese. I wouldn't recommend any chemicals, as it may damage your pump. Only way to take care of it is to get in there and clean it up by hand. I know it's a filthy dirty job, but one that needs to be done from time to time. That stuff can get pretty hard, but it will come off with a little elbow greese. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe one of the other guys here will have a better method. Good luck.

I feared this was the answer, but hoped that a little vinegar or low grade acid might make it easier.

As MGD77 said, the white substance is created by combination of soaps, shampoos, detergents etc. Try to change brands and see if you notice any change.
