rotator cuff injuries/failure to properly diagnose
In May I injuried my shoulder at work. I was immediately sent to the agency health care provider. I was put on anti-inflammatory medication, ibroprofen and told I pulled a muscle in my shoulder. (trapezieus). After a week of pain I returned and was told to continue the medication and go to physical therapy 3x per week. I did this until the end of July. After getting no relief I was sent for an MRI and to an orthopedic surgeon and told to discontinue the pt. The surgeon discovered that I had torn my rotator cuff completely away from my deltoid muscle. He also said that since it had been so long since the injury there is a possibility he won't be able to repair it. He says that he may be able to treat it, but not surgically reattach it. When I asked him why it went bad so quickly, he said that something like that usually takes about three months to get to the point where it can't be repaired.
Well, I initially went to the doc in May, I saw them once a week up until July. Is the doctor at fault for not sending me to a specialist sooner?
From what I understand no matter if it can be repaired or treated I'm looking at six months to a year of pt, possibility weekly injections, and limited activities since it's my right shoulder and I am right-handed. I am also a court reporting student.
