I was the authorized signer on a business account for my past employer (not the account holder) I am being chased by the states attorney office in Florida because I signed a rent check for the company and the check bounced. I had no knowledge that the account was in trouble or that funds where not in there. The company has since gone out of business and I am still fighting this case. I have hired an attorney and we have had 3 pre-trial hearings to try and dismiss this case, but to no avail. The states attorney has dug its heels in and is not backing down. What are my options? I have never been in any trouble ever, what is the worst case scenario?
