Can a 14 year old get a job?
To get a job in Nevada? I heard that's it is supposely 14 but my bro said that my sis ex-boyfriend told him you HAVE to be 15 to get a job. So can a 14 year old get a job? I live inn Las vegas,Nevada. I want to know if 14 year old can work in stores not mowing lawns (odd jobs ) or other jobs that you don't get paided by a company. If there are some jobs then tell me which ones and how you know. If someone can give me a law that was passed IN Nevada saying that kids at the age of 14 with a permit by their parents can work can you give me a website so I can see it and prove my brother wrong. I'm so confused right now and I want to know if I can get a job... Thank you to all that help me.

NRS: CHAPTER 609 - EMPLOYMENT OF MINORS
I'll let you read the details ;)

I live in cali, but I think our child labor laws are similar. And when I was 15 and looking for a job, even though it was legal, a lot of places wouldn't hire me because either their insurance wouldn't cover a minor under 16 or because of the extreme limited hours I would be able to work. So even if its legal, there's no guarantee you'll find a job. If this site isn't clear, you should be able to ask your school, usually that's who you go through to get a work permit anyway

The minimum age to work in Nevada without a work premit is 14 years old. A work permit is required from District Court if have not reached age of 14.
It is under Nevada Revised Statutes
NRS 609 Employment of minors type into search engine (leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-609). There are restricts to the type of employment allowed also under the law.

Best chance are with neighbors. Doesn't have to be yard work. Babysitting (often boys are more in demand), doing grocery shopping, changing lightbulbs, carrying boxes, helping sort through messes, always cleaning houses, etc. etc. You can often get paid more per hour this way and make your own hours. If you're working in a regular type working place (which I agree with above - they probably won't hire you) you'll be low on the totem pole and have to do all the worst stuff, worst hours, etc. etc.
Figure out what you're most willing to do, make a flier (2 per page, cut it in half) then put them in people's mailboxes with your name and phone number. Say "no job too small", willing to learn, hard worker, and things like that. Your parents can help you with what to say on the flyer. Start a business like this and give it a catchy title. Then 3-5 years from now when you want a full time job, or want to go to college you can have a resume that says you started your own business when you were 14. :-)
